Ergonomics and Anthropometry Part 1

Hi all.

This is my work, about choosing a comfortable workplace and which one is better and what are the areas of consideration when designing a comfortable work place.

Here are the questions and answers:

1.Compare the two types of setup and state reasons why one of the setup is preferred.

The one which the man is in a black suit is preferred. It is more comfortable, more spacious, and fell better after long hours of work.

2. What are the area of considerations when designing a conducive and comfortable workplace?

Comfort, height and depth, lighting, freedom of movement, prolonged laptop use and useable desk space.

3. State the reasons why these considerations are important.

For comfort, you must be comfortable so you can concentrate in your work better as a person might be sitting there for a long time throughout the day.

For height and depth, the length between the eyes and the paper or computer screen must be just right or else it is no good for your eyes. It should be adjustable just in case a different person is there or the person is sitting in a different position.

For lighting, there must be good and proper lighting so that it is good for your eyes. It should have a table light just in case the ceiling light is behind the person and he is blocking the light, and a shadow is cast, making in darker and might spoil your eyes.

For freedom of movement, the chair should be on wheels so that it is easy to move around and different people might prefer different positions of sitting.

For prolonged laptop use, there should be a laptop holder so that it will feel comfortable after using it for a long time. If not, it will be very tiring and uncomfortable.

For useable desk space, the desk must be spacious to put things. Or else, it will make it look cramped and untidy. The person might need to put additional stuff on the table would not have enough space.

So these are my answers.

Thank You.

This is a table that can be used in class with my previous worktable on it.

I hope you like it.

Thank you.

My laptop work table

Hi all.

This is my worktable I am supposed to design using google sketch up.

I am sorry as the file is too big I cannot upload it here.

So, I have uploaded it to youtube and this is the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMy6Z5Rw5i8

In it, there is a hole below the lap top for a cooling fan. On the left and right of it are spaces for people to use to put things, like paper, documents, files. A mouse can be place on either side, depend on if you are left or right handed. There is a row of gap at the back. It is for pen and pencil so they will not row away. There is a hole at the back wall for any wires for internet connection, charger, etc.

So this is my design.

Thank you.

I hope you like it

Challengers

Hi all.

This is a mind map of the 3 essential questions. (below)

I have expanded on them and chose a problem, which was cooking. Cooking might be a problem as they have to stand to cook and it might be tiring. It will be difficult as they might not know how long it will take to cook some food. This is why I selected thin challenge. I am supposed to come up with a product to help them.

I am currently thinking of a product, that is a stove with a timer, and has adjustable height. It is also able to time you for some simple things like frying eggs, and other things like steaming things and others.

I hope you like my idea.

Thank you.

5 essential questions

Hi all.

I am supposed to list down 5 essential questions for my ADMT Elderly challenge.

Here are they:

1: Is being an elderly being a problem as everyone grow up and becomes old?

2: How can we help the elderly and make their life easier and they can be independent without a care taker to take care of them so that they can do things and go on life as normal and do not require much help or assistance?

3: What are the things we can build or make that is elderly friendly and easy for the elderly to use and do not require much effort?

4: How can we help take care of the elderly if they are in need of help?

5: What are the problems or difficulties an elderly faces in their daily lives?

These are my 5 essential questions.

Now I will need to choose 3 of these and rank them.

Here are the 3, according from first to last.

1: What are the problems or difficulties an elderly faces in their daily lives?

First, we will need to know the problems they faced before we can help them.

2: What are the things we can build or make that is elderly friendly and easy for the elderly to use and do not require much effort?

Then, we will need to know what things we can build to help them.

3: How can we help the elderly and make their life easier and they can be independent without a care taker to take care of them so that they can do things and go on life as normal and do not require much help or assistance?

Last, we must make sure they can use them without any help and much effort.

Thank You.
